The Process

The Birthplace has twenty-three different gardens. Some are huge, others are smaller. Once the days got warm enough we spent the majority of the month of May raking out the leaves and weeding. The spring flowers finally arrived and were trying to break through the dead fall.

It seemed like forever before things started to get green but once it started the place just came alive. Everything blooms here and we just kept saying.... Oh my, this is just beautiful!! It's like a picture post card around every turn.
THEN the bugs came out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We literally worked and raked in fly nets because the BLACK BITING FLIES would eat you up. This is an example of what happens when you think you are invincible and you don't wear your net:( They take a big bite out of you so that you have a bleeding sore that just gets worse everyday for a week. Not my favorite time of the year!

Finally June 1st we were able to bring home the dozens of flats of flowers that we ordered way back in February! It was all hands on deck and we spent three weeks designing and planting the flower beds.

There were several rainy days and many muddy clothes! We went home dog tired most days and were more than a little overwhelmed by the seemingly endless flats of flowers. I looked down at my lap on the way home one day and thought, "This is what a hard days work looks like:)" It is farming at its finest. the crop is just flowers instead of food!!

The first week things started looking pretty good..........
and then BAM............

What it would take a month to achieve in Idaho we had in only a few weeks! Blossoms everywhere!!
I'm sure there is some divine intervention going on here but it is truly amazing!
